Q Do We need to cut it almost entirely? I think it would be beneficial- Eg ONLY allowing essential/ highly skilled and specialist workers so , only people who are immediately able to contribute to us via employment and tax over an extended period of time . There needs to be no handouts including Medicare, pension etc unless they have contributed and paid taxes for at least 5 -10 years . That way we cut out the dead wood / welfare shoppers or those with high costing medical expenses that come here to use the system which was financially created by Australian workers . ? Should we implement-Seasonal workers should ONLY be from our surrounding Pacific nations to boost productivity for farmers who struggle to get workers but in turn help our neighbours who would spend money here but also send money to family be a win win . They would have to commit to going home at the end of season . We need time and commitment to sort our own backyard before we can look at what we can do for others .

Permanent skilled workers Yes. We need targeted skills and the net fiscal benefits are positive. But make them pay for entry.

There needs to be immediate halt on immigration and can we please quickly house the people we already have, even if it's cheap prefab pods in temporary accomodation villages. It's winter and there's so many people in tents and cars. I've done it myself many times for variable timeframes including over winter in between rentals moving location for work due to nothing being available. There is a public toilet map where you can get free or cheap showers, and if you can get a low cost gym membership at least you can get a good workout and a daily shower, and there are some community places who offer discounted hot meals.

It's honestly so distressing to see a government walking blindly into disaster that many nations in the past fought so hard to resist and won after centuries of turbulance to uphold their culture, safety and security.Importing people like they are cattle to fill political agendas is cruel to all involved.A large influx of people is very destabalising to the economy due to cost of increased housing,education etc during a cost of living crisis.

So true we need to stop before it becomes more concerning than it is,we don't have the housing and infrastructure for many Australians now let alone future ones. If only the government had done what they did in the past to cover the immigration. Also it would be wonderful again to bring back European migrants also as they once did.

Immigration levels are definitely too high, especially when you look at the the long term temporary visas issued. Millions every year, and student visas are a back door way to permanent visas.

Coming to our country, the country you have selected to migrate to should come with conditions. More than the "What skills do you bring", "How much money do you have in the bank".

How do we help the immigrants that are here to integrate? Without integration all we have are groups of sub cultures, fighting against each other.

I grew up for the first 12 years in western Sydney. I lived in a beautiful multi cultural society alongside Lebanese , Italians and Greeks . They were amazing families and we all broke bread with one another . We would have Barbeques at our home and everyone in the street was invited. We would call our neighbours Aunty and Uncle. I still speak a little Greek that was taught to me as a child . I have the best memories of painting eggs red with my Greek neighbours at Easter. Our bigest treat was to have a delicious Chinese meal at our local restaurant. They came to Australia for a better life , they contributed and made a difference. My Father employed many as he said they were the hardest working people. I still have childhood friends to this day . These are not the people coming today. It's a completely different story . We are not racist. We want assimilation and friendship like the original migrants that came here to make a difference. Not ones bringing their twisted idiolgy and hatred . Burke and Albo have a lot to answer for.

Previous immigration such as the TenPound Poms scheme had the Australian government bringing in people Australia needed in the workforce. The TPP had to come to a job or be sponsored. The health of TPP’s was carefully vetted beforehand. Homes, both State ( job with Alcoa for example) or money to afford private accommodation which was readily available. Everyone can see quite clearly such issues are not being applied to the thousands from overseas being brought here now. Straight from the jungle with a machete in hand in some cases. The whole system needs reorganising and meantime STOPPING immigration altogether until the mess has been sorted out and sensible policies put into place.
