Men: Approximately 1 in 16 (6.1% or 582,400) These figures include sexual assault and sexual threat. Additionally, 53% of women and 25% of men have experienced sexual harassment since age 15. A lot of crime also conveniently doesn't show up in Statistics either. QPS crime map for example doesn't show 2 stolen vehicles in our street, or a guy we all saw get arrested who had drugs hidden in his shoe.

This is a classic case of using a real problem to sell a much bigger story. Yes, sexual assault is under-reported in Australia. Nobody disputes that. But Malcolm Roberts uses an old US reporting figure, ignores newer data showing much lower reporting rates in the US, and then compares Australian and American crime statistics that are measured in different ways. Even the article admits the methodologies differ. So the evidence doesn't support the sweeping conclusion that Australia is somehow more dangerous than the United States. The honest conclusion is much simpler: sexual violence is under-reported, crime data is complex, and cherry-picking statistics doesn't make for a reliable comparison.
