Senator Roberts has slammed wasteful Federal government spending as FOI documents reveal two government departments alone spent nearly a quarter million dollars of taxpayer money on lavish business class flights last financial year.

“Public servants need to get the message that taxpayer money isn’t theirs to splash on luxury flights,” Senator Roberts said.

“A public servant charging taxpayers $4,955 for a 55 minute business class flight from Canberra to Sydney is simply outrageous and shouldn’t be allowed.”

“Many hardworking, tax-paying Australians have never flown business class in their life. Using Australian taxes for staff to fly up the front of the plane and live a life of luxury is an insult.”

“This is just one example of the disregard some have for taxpayers’ money. Unfortunately, it’s all too common across government.”

“If the Prime Minister is serious about budget repair he needs to rein in his wasteful departments. It looks like the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry should be first on his list.”

the tax payer should pay for economy flights only if they want an upgrade to business or first class then they need to pay for that from their generous tax payer funded wages !!

Thank you indeed Senator Roberts for exposing this outrageous and irresponsible behavior by our so called “Public Servants”, most of whom clearly do not understand what the term means.
The PM should put a stop to all such extravagant expenditure by government bureaucrats, and remind them who is paying. Travel is the thin end of the government extravagance on elite perks. Cut them all back to basic requirements stop the elitism..
The PM is responsible for fiscal honesty in his government – exercise appropriate control please Mr PM. – NOW!

Malcolm you are a true representative of the people and tell the truth which we are all entitled to know. The lies and locks downs etc about the virus were fuelled by these same “public servants “but they are getting away with that too. I don’t trust Albanese,Chalmers ,Wong et al and unfortunately I feel the majority of our politicians of all parties are from the same self serving mold.
I have signed the petition from Alex Antic, another true worker for the people,re WEF,which our “honourable” PM and the slimy Greens and Labor have refused to debate or disclose affiliation to. What is our nation being reduced to? Lackeys of the obscenely rich and immoral globalists.
We the voting public seem to have no voice and most appeals to our representatives are ignored or answered by these same unelected bureaucrats living the high life at taxpayers expense. Keep up the good work please. Eventually more people will realise we are being taken for a very expensive ride although as “our “ABC neither reports nor discusses these topics it is hard for the ordinary person to become aware of such matters. Yours sincerely Cynthia Lomas
