Queensland’s state-owned power grid reached into people’s homes 6 times and turned down 170,000 air conditioners.

It’s called PeakSmart limiting and they don’t tell you when they’ve cut your cooling —  instead they tell installers and repairers in case you call them out thinking there’s a problem.

They hope you won’t notice… Have we reached Peak Stupid yet with the government’s Net Zero target?

That example is forewarning the list of impositions being made NOW.
    1) National ID (being discussed today 9 Feb.) Just wait for the myriad of gateways the unseen “they” will dream up to control us in whatever way “they” want. And YES – it will most always relate to “safety” – their “concern” for us. Pigs might fly!

    2) Join that up with subscribing ALL people of this nation to the WHO and whatever decree it likes to issue and in both the first and this case, there’s diddly squat WE people – puppets – can do to resist. Sounds like a fun future eh?

    3) People actually voted for this energy assault – and half of Australians will again. It’s akin to slashing wrists for fun.
AGAIN – so called “smart” metering and circuitry are gateways that as with our few remaining liberties, are switched on and off at their whim.
Here though their ‘whim’ relates to trying to keep a deliberately downgraded “green” grid functioning in some way. But half of Queensland wanted this so … ENJOY!

Here in NSW I phoned Origen telling them I don’t want a smart meter. Ignoring my request, I was told ,’it’s not a smart meter, it’s a digital meter’. I have a feeling he lied.

It should be made illegal for anyone of these putrid filth reaching into people’s homes to turn off their air conditioners or anything else for that matter.customers pay for what they use and it is up to them to decide how and when to use the power.Someone could have been killed with heat exhaustion due to these grubs turning their power off. They should get out of the electricity market id they cannot provide what the customers are paying in good faith.

Alinta Energy are also price gouging. We have had our 1st bill from Alinta sine moving into our home in Cleveland and for the month 1st Jan – 31st Jan it is over $220 ! $220 for 1 month. And we have solar panels. It would have been $250 but we were in credit for last month. We are pensioners with no income, so how can we afford to pay that?

A stamp and a letter or email your local members and tell them point blank you are not happy and all your friends need to do the same. People power. The voice went down in a screaming heap so should all this renewable rip off.

It’s time now to STOP paying the bills to these grubs.
STOP paying taxes & council rates.
No more complying with artificial governments, councils, big corp.

I’m a second generation refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic with over 50 years experience. When the Peak Smart first came in I looked at it closely and told EVERY one of my clients NOT to put the device on , because the use of your air conditioner will be subject being throttled up to 75% by some environazi sitting in Brisbane. Mind you……those subjected to this scheme have been paid to do so….so the onus is on them in the first place.

I am on my last few months before I move. I have solar with batteries and when I resettle it will be 100% off grid no matter how many solar panels and batteries it requires. I am fed up with these mongrels who pay for nothing and control what WE OWN. Pay me back the $47,000 and then you have the right to screw with my property. Bad enough they are screwing around with my hot water service.
This is why SMART Meters were introduced, but where I live there were 4 people who told them to stick it where the sun don’t shine. The remaining 196 people accepted it. IDIOTS!
I saw this coming as well as many other things, and took evasive action.

I have noticed that when quite hot, our a/c does not appear to cool. Strangely, as a 7 kW unit, it is using only 2 kW. So, we simply turn on the second 5 kW unit and the pair seem to work better.
The 2010/2011 La Nina brought above-average rainfall to Australia, southern Africa and northern South America. These continents turned into a giant green carbon sink to rival tropical rainforests They soaked up 4.1 billion tons of carbon in 2011 – the equivalent of more than 40% of emissions from burning fossil fuels that year.
    Pray for rain.

    Hi,

Our evaporative air conditioning uses ~1/10 (450W or less) the power to cool the entire house. The reverse cycle aircon uses ~10x the power (3000W or more). Why is reverse cycle aircon being pushed so hard?

  9. Barney
    Barney says:

The peaksmart device is fitted to the outdoor compressor unit of an aircon by the installer. The customer is paid up to $200 per unit to install the device that Energex provides. The purpose of the device is to try to lessen the load on the grid when it is under extreme stress. Otherwise we would have brownouts ( under voltage) and/or blackouts. The fact is that rooftop solar has been a disaster for supply authorities given the fact that their output fluctuates wildly during their 6 hour operation and they make almost no contribution during peak demand times ( 4pm — 8 pm).
The comments I’m reading here , including Malcolm Robert’s’, reflect ignorant consumerism.
How many of the people who got solar installed asked “ who pays for the poles and wires?” They don’t care, they just want something for free. The only thing keeping the solar industry going is government subsidies. That’s why power prices are going up. And it’s also why it’s making our grid harder to manage. Wake up Australia. The only free cheese is in the trap.
