To a certain demographic, their demands sound reasonable enough on the surface: 'End Mass Immigration', 'We are taking our country back', and a promise to fight for 'everyday Australians', national sovereignty and border control. But look at who's behind it, and the picture changes fast. The movement has attracted individuals with documented neo-Nazi links: 1. Thomas Sewell – leader of the National Socialist Network. Delivered the keynote speech from Parliament House steps at a 'March for Australia' rally. Convicted of offensive behaviour for leading a masked group outside the Chinese consulate with a sign bearing the racist slur "g--k" against Asian people; a Melbourne magistrate said he emulated "Nazi thugs of 1930s Berlin". In 2023, he bashed a black Channel Nine security guard after his associate said "Dance monkey, dance", leaving the man on the ground; the magistrate called it "sickening to watch on video" and convicted him of affray and recklessly causing injury, sparing him jail only due to his lack of prior criminal history. 'March for Australia' organisers refuse to ban him. 2. Blair Cottrell – far-right extremist. In 2015, he staged a beheading stunt outside Bendigo council against a proposed mosque, leading to a conviction for inciting hatred. Former leader of the United Patriots Front, an anti-immigration, anti-Islam group. Jailed for stalking his ex-girlfriend's partner with a tomahawk, sleeping outside the man's house and setting his garage on fire, plus arson and aggravated burglary. Has publicly called for a portrait of Adolf Hitler in every Australian classroom. Movement organiser Bec Walker reposted his video content, keeping him connected to the cause. 'March for Australia' organisers refuse to ban him. 3. Hugo Lennon – key March for Australia organiser and far-right influencer who goes by "auspill" online, a nod to the "redpill" ideology of the white nationalist movement. A 22-year-old property heir with links to the National Socialist Network, he has 73,000 young TikTok followers. In July 2026, he gatecrashed PM Modi's Melbourne hotel, bellowing "f--- Modi!" and "f--- India!" from a balcony before police dragged him away. He also shouted: "This is Australia. No more Indians. We don't want any more migration. This country is for Australians." He then led a two-hour protest at Marvel Stadium where neo-Nazis hurled abuse at the crowd and held signs reading "Stop Indian Invasion." 'March for Australia' organisers refuse to ban him. National organiser Bec Freedom (also known as Bec Walker) defended the presence of neo-Nazis at the rallies. In a media interview, she said: "I know not all of you guys like them, I know that. But they're good people who are fighting for our country, they agreed with our cause and they came to help [keep people] safe." THE COP-OUT Organisers claim they cannot control who attends. But they control the speaker list. They can ban swastikas and Nazi salutes. They can publicly dissociate from toxic, anti-Australian figures like the ones mentioned above. Refusing to ban hate isn't free speech. It functions as a recruitment drive for extremism. THIS ISN'T PATRIOTISM If you're planning to attend, share their content, or tell yourself that backing this tour is the patriotic thing to do — think again. Real patriots don't stand behind a man convicted of bashing a security guard while his mate yelled "Dance monkey, dance". They don't cheer a man who screamed racist abuse at a visiting prime minister. When you turn up, you're the respectability they need. When you share, you put money in their pockets. When you cheer, you hand cover to people who want to divide your country by race. Your worry about housing and wages is real. It is also being exploited. The 'fair go' is not a slogan for one colour or creed. It is the promise that the country you hand your kids is better than the one you inherited.
