With a strong background in engineering, mining and business leadership, Malcolm brings a real world perspective to Parliament that the ranks of major party lawyers and former union bosses miss.
He has led the operational development of Australia’s largest and most complex underground coal project, setting many new industry firsts.
After being disqualified along with 14 others from sitting in Parliament in the 2017-18 eligibility crisis, Malcolm campaigned for election again in 2019 where he was successful with a huge increase in vote.

This is not what South Australians were promised when so-called "renewable" energy was rolled out.
In this article, an expert has been quoted as saying:
"We end up prioritising reliability by default, and sometimes also sustainability with renewables and things like that, without necessarily thinking about affordability."
Energy grids should always prioritise reliability.
If the transition to so called "renewable" energy makes reliabiliy unaffordable, then the transition must be stopped.
Australia is rich in cheap, reliable energy alternatives. Delivering cheap, reliable energy isn't just an option for the government - it's their responsibility.

Chasing 100% reliability regardless of cost would require massive overbuilding of generation, transmission and backup, which consumers would ultimately pay for. Every electricity system in the world accepts some level of risk because eliminating every outage would be prohibitively expensive. That's why reliability standards are designed around what delivers the best value overall—not perfection at any cost. Also, attributing electricity prices solely to renewables ignores other major drivers such as gas prices, transmission investment, ageing coal plant closures, network costs and global energy markets. South Australia has some of the highest levels of renewable generation in the world, but wholesale electricity prices are often among the lowest when wind and solar output is strong. A serious discussion about energy should acknowledge the real trade-offs instead of suggesting that renewables automatically make the grid unreliable or unaffordable

This response from Clare O'Neil is delusional.
Pretending to accurately measure the size of the illegal tobacco industry through voluntary public health surveys is absurd.
I have spent many hours reading submissions and listening to those directly impacted by the vast criminal network supported by illicit tobacco. Not to mention asking questions of the Minister and in Senate Estimates.
To O'Neil's point, despite their hard work, police have only seized a tiny fraction of illicit product. This is far beyond an enforcement problem. It is a government created tax issue.
And it's about to spread to the alcohol industry.
This is hurting everyone - Australian consumers, legitimate businesses and the Treasury.

All they have reduced is the number of people smoking government taxed cigarettes. Lmao
Things only become illegal due to government policy, The government either ban/prohibit it (DRUGS) so people will still source / sell it if there is a market/profit to be made. OR The government puts a stupid tax on tobacco so again there is a market for $10-15 packets of smokes when the suppliers get them for $ 1-5 a packet and know Aussies are struggling and cant afford taxed smokes especially when the government is making $25 a packet.
perhaps they should take a look at dropping the excise on alcohol and tobacco to a reasonable amount.
