During Estimates in May, I questioned the AFP on their treatment of Ben Roberts-Smith.
While we welcome the investigation into media leaks, the AFP still refuses to explain the so-called ‘operational decision’ to arrest him on a Sydney tarmac in front of his two daughters, rather than in Brisbane.
After more than a decade and hundreds of millions of dollars spent investigating alleged war crimes, the AFP has not secured a single conviction. It’s hard to reconcile that extraordinary expenditure with an outcome that has delivered nothing but reputational damage and prolonged uncertainty for one of the nation’s most decorated soldiers.
The handling of this case raises serious questions about priorities, accountability, and whether such extraordinary resources have been justified by results.
This government needs to ask itself why it sends Australians to war if it then spends hundreds of millions tearing them down when they come home.

“Operational factor” means we wanted to shame him publicly
Chem trails?
When Australian military are trained, they are taught repeatedly about the rules of engagement. If soldiers do not follow these instructions a reasonable way, then there may be consequences. With all the politicisation of the issue, ON are completely involved in this part, then the trial will become more complicated due to the media exposure. Let the courts and AFP do their jobs. The media leak was inappropriate and I hope that it is addressed, but let it be while the legal process continues.
A good question would be, did the AFP make /suggest changes to the what a non-combatant requirements are from the 7 elements to a single 1?
Was it because of the titanic and the captain. Smith or was I captain Thomas William my ancestry
The federal government has allocated roughly $320.5 million total to the Office of the Special Investigator (OSI) and spent around $231 million on broader war crimes probes, rather than a single specific figure for Ben Roberts-Smith alone. The overall expenditure covers multiple investigations, not just the case against Mr. Roberts-Smith
She cant answer questions.
Kangaroo court. Need to happen in Sydney. Jury would been made all migrants. Most likely the ones he at war with so they. Jury turn on him if Brisbane it would been hard due most like be Australia in the Jury.
How can a trial by media be a fair trial?
Cover it up
They arrested him that way after tipping off the media so they could get their version out first. Get ahead of the narrative.
Maybe stop sending them to war….. maybe spend more effort in collaboration, in partnership, understanding. Accept differences….
They would’ve got more results looking for political corruption
The way they arrested him was a publicity & political stunt as he was never a flight risk & even said if they just called him he would have handed himself in to the afp....🙄
Wait til the court case results.
Didn’t they make a spectacle of it to impress the far left Government, win brownie points and brown nose for promotions?
A fair trial, it shouldn't even go to trial.
It just makes me shake my head in disgust. I hope that the actual reason comes out at the trial. That will be under oath.
Thank you Malcolm. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
How did the media get onto the tarmac???
Token AFP promotion for her making up the numbers
The fact you can't understand that the AFP and government are completely separate is concerning. You should not be here asking questions if you don't understand the basics.
Risk of publicity? Who leaked the arrest to start with? And why in a high profile location?
Smokescreen of operational procedures seems like a good excuse to arrest him in Sydney were they is a more diverse population and not in his home state of Queensland! She looked very uncomfortable with this question, almost guilt ridden!

This meme is PERFECT! I was just reading an earlier post where Malcolm was accusing that nasty mainstream media of making him look like a full blown cooker. For a moment I wondered if we were being a bit harsh on Mr Roberts. And now I see this post. JUST PERFECT. 🤪
Why is the bloke born in India lecturing about not letting people in 😂
Mal's on the juice again.
Which one has cheap ciggies and beer!?
Hogwarts also has strict entry conditions, yet it's still no more real than heaven.
Borders are not a Christian value, ask Jesus what he would say to that?
What about the gates of Mordor, they are more real than those fairy stories. Our gates obviously weren’t working when we let you in or were you able to slip under them.
'Sourced from X' should tell you everything you need to know about Malcolm
I stand by that this is the best political satire page on FB
"Sourced from X". Three words that immediately reduce the credibility of any statement.
A crazy rant from the Toxic Garden Gnome
Like all ON policies, purely based on myths. Perfect.
This is the crazy uncle we never asked for who’s asking questions about wind turbines during a healthcare senate session 😂
It's hilarious to watch populists try to ape Trump, in a country with no land border. We can spot a dinghy on radar hundreds of kilometres away, everyone else arrives and is documented in an airport aside from the occasional teleporting wizard.
Who is proposing open borders? Opposing something no-one is proposing just more fantasy from One Nation
Heaven has gates because they want you to pay to get in
Open borders would imply I could leave Hell at any time
Dudes got the same thing trump has... reckon we can get a discount at a nursing home?
Narrow and straight is the path to righteousness, wide and easy is the path to destruction. Amen.
What does heaven have in common with One Nation's costed policies? Both dont exist.
So what you're saying is hell is accepting and welcoming to all creeds and colours, and types and beliefs, whereas heaven is only accessible to the people.who believe the exact same thing anndcreates and echo chamber. I know which one id prefer.
Nothing says 'serious political argument' quite like Malcolm citing the fictional border-control arrangements of Heaven and Hell. Next up he'll announces that we should adopt Middle-earth’s immigration policy because Mordor has a much tougher stance on unauthorised entry.
I questioned the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) on why taxpayers are funding a new $5 million vaccine-adjuvant research centre when Australians still haven't been given clear answers about the safety of existing adjuvants.
Their written response to my questions confirmed the project was funded simply because peer reviewers ranked it highly, saying that "there are only seven adjuvants used in license vaccines which limits the choice" and the NHMRC's Centres of Research Excellence aims to "discover novel adjuvants to improve vaccine development."
That's not oversight - that's the NHMRC waving through millions without addressing the real issues.
I asked directly whether concerns about aluminum-based adjuvants or neurological conditions played any role and they couldn't give me an answer.
I also confirmed that any new vaccine technology developed with Australian taxpayer money WILL NOT be owned by Australians.
This is simply not good enough.
Taxpayers should not be funding research that lines the pockets of big pharmaceutical companies. Any intellectual property generated through these grants must belong to the taxpayers. Handing over this property to entities to monetise at our expense provides zero return to the taxpayers.
This has to stop!
For a billion-dollar grant body, Australians deserve better than vague justifications and no clear outcomes.
Australians deserve accountability that matches the scale of the spending.

Love your hard work Senator Malcolm Roberts 👌
If we the Australian people fund it we own it
One nation all the way
Thank you, Malcolm Roberts. Staggering amounts of taxpayer money, apparently down the drain. Funny how these eye-wateringly well paid people never seem to come prepared with a few notes on an Excel spreadsheet about their multi million dollar projects. Date: Grant amount: Recipient/s: Title of Grant: Project leader: Progress statement: Outcome statement: Return on investment. Recipient of profits: Benefits to taxpayers. It’s not hard. (I hadn’t even read Malcolm Roberts’ own statement. This was just in response to the interaction.) You’d want more feedback than that if you’d sent him out to buy coffee ☕️ ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
This is Malcolm summed up
Good science is based on rigorous testing and investigation. If the science can't withstand the questions of transparency, that says something more about the science than the person asking questions. Accountability, responsibility and transparency are the public's right to know. The old slogan of 'trust the science', doesn't pass the pub test anymore without due diligence, and if the scientists are offended by the question, or can't answer the question, obviously there's a problem. Big dollar spends deserve answers and accountability to the people. To ask a question that many would like to know the answer to, does not warrant disrespect. If the science is solid, there shouldn't be a problem with providing the answer. If the funding is being wasted, or the product is causing harm, that's a problem. If the results impacted your family, you'd want to know. The minister is doing his job and is asking fair and reasonable questions. To resort to name calling to try to diminish his character, is an admission of failure and exhausted intelligence on those responsible.
Keep on them
