I truly believe actual essential services (electricity, water, sewerage etc) should never have been privatised. That doesn't mean private commercial operators couldn't compete in the same markets, or sell their product to the state owned services. Privatising anything always ends in profit over service.

On one hand you moan about how expensive power is driving out industry, and on the other hand you want even more for-profit private involvement in the sector. Maximising profit and maximising affordability of utilities are fundamentally oppposing concepts. This would be things like water, power, basic banking, public transport, roads, telephony, public works, emergency services, and the like. Everything of a commercial nature should be done as private enterprise. Industry, retail, and goods and services should always be on a private commercial basis. The government has no business competing against private enterprise.

This is a straight up straw man argument and has no merit. In WA we have state owned electricity and it's cheaper than what you have over east. Meanwhile our government owned trains are cheaper and nicer than the privately owned ones in NSW. Our state run prisons are much better run than the private ones run by SERCO. Sometimes government run stuff is just better.

We are INDIVIDUALS we paid Taxes as Individuals all of a sudden as Welfare recipients we are one Entity, doesn’t wash with me. Note: no they don’t 2 lots of food, 2 lots of drinks, 2 lots of clothing ( unless one of you is a cross dresser) 2 lots of Hygiene products, 2 lots of fuel, 2 lots of Water usage, extra power usage, 2 lots medicine costs over and above the PBS, pharmacy medications Vitamins etc, I have serious health issues that requires me to attend hospital appointments 2 or 3 times a week that mean parking fees extra fuel, on top of that my partner has her own health issues that requires her to attend appointments and her own medication issues, all on $905 each. Oh and of course she also receives only $905, then out of that we have household expenses rates, house and garden maintenance costs all property need maintenance or they go to crap. Im not allowed to do it because of my health issues so I have to pay someone. So the simple answer is No we can’t do all this on $905. If 2 Singles that are on $1200 each Share a house because they have different Surnames they get $1200 each and if they rent they get Rental assistance so they get a lot more and yes this happens.
