My local art space had an aboriginal who dealt with applications of artist that do exhibitions in the space, we seem to have alot of exhibitions that I feel is not suitable for kids as they seem to display a hell of a lot of anger and items of violence with a subtext of stolen gen and so on. It’s just a narrative that is constantly on the schedule so yep lots need funding and favouritism needs just as much aggressiveness to look into it. Fair go has long gone. Funding is of no surprise

This is such a strange way to read an arts budget. Aboriginal Australians are about 3.8% of the population, therefore Aboriginal art should get about 3.8% of arts funding? By that logic, every art form should be funded according to how many Australians personally belong to that group. That’s not how arts funding works. First Nations art also covers culture, heritage, language and traditions that exist nowhere else in the world. Funding decisions are based on projects, cultural value and need, not a population pie chart. Malcolm has found a percentage, divided it by another percentage, and apparently decided that’s an argument.

The answer to that question is New Zealand citizens is not easy although New Zealand has alot more saying or treaty with alot of Polynesian neighbours, Samoa Fiji Tonga etc. When you apply for pr in NZ its not easy from PR to Citizenship it can take up to 6years. Then most move to Australia for better life and again we have to stay here for 4 years before we are qualified to apply for citizenship. It's not an easy process.

Fyi both NZ and Fiji have always been stepping stones into Australia.

I know several people who went via NZ with a sole purpose of getting entry into and citizenship in Australia. All were doctors so were welcome, but all said it was cheaper and easier than direct application to Australia.

That is such an easy question to answer, if they were doing their job properly, they should know that answer , at a drop of a hat.

If you have ever tried to get citizenship or even a temporary work permit in an Asian country (for example) you have to enter a lengthy process to gain approval including for some countries a police check and it matters not what your country nationality may be. Countries need to protect their citizens and ensure that new migrants meet certain criteria to enable an easy assimilation process with sincere intentions. Entry through a back door denigrates those who came in via the regulated channel. Follow due process, meet the rquirements, and join us in the free country!

Temporary visa to stay permanently makes it a permanent visa in my book. So they are not obliged to apply for citizenship and that right there makes it unfair to others. NZ is not the eighth state of Australia.

Have to say, when I returned home to Bris from a flight from Shanghai recently; the two people either side of me were Asian (and unknown to each other). I noticed when filling out the immigration card details they each had a New Zealand passport…it’s possible they were tourists but I think they were coming back “home” after being in China.
